EU Data Act compliance
The EU Data Act (Regulation (EU) 2023/2854) is a landmark regulation that aims to promote a fair, competitive, and innovative data economy by ensuring that users—whether individuals or businesses—can access the data they generate and share it with third parties of their choice.
While the primary focus of the Data Act is a legal framework for access to and use of data generated by connected products and related services, it also sets out specific rules for cloud and data processing service providers, including requirements for data portability, interoperability, and the elimination of vendor lock-in. Under the Data Act, EU customers should be able to switch providers with full access to their data and digital assets in structured, commonly used formats. The Data Act entered into force in January 2024 and the regulation will become applicable from 12 September 2025.
In response to the Data Act, Genesys has reviewed all areas of Genesys Cloud for compliance with this regulation. For more information about the retention periods and export functionality associated with different data types, see Data retention periods by feature.
